Flora

Flora is our herd’s martriarch and she makes ALL the rules. She’s a 3 year old Normande cow from a small dairy in Missouri! Normande cattle are a French dual purpose breed known for milk that’s high in butter fat and excellent for making cheese Flora is due with a silver highland mix calf in January, this will be her second baby.

Likes: FOOD, treats, scratches, bossing everyone around, food, her mom, bird feeders, rubbing on trees, and napping under shady trees.

Dislikes: not getting treats, fly spray, and sharing.

Flora has been such a fun addition to our farm, at 1200lbs she’s a big girl and keeps the peace beautifully. We are so excited to meet her baby in January and are saying special prayers that it has emo bangs like its dad!!!

Rowan

Rowan is a 5 year old Dexter cow with gorgeous horns and a beautiful red coat! She’s the mommy to our new calf, Aurora, and is the perfect blend of protective and gentle! Row is cautious but very sweet and gentle especially with the kids.

Loves: food, kids, Aurora, napping under trees, brushes from Ava, and her herd.

Dislikes: donkeys, Molly, no food, treats, vegetables, fly spray, and quads.

Row has been an amazing addition to our farm and is such a good mom to aurora. We can’t wait to see what future babies she brings tot her farm!

Molly

Molly is a gorgeous 4 year old Irish Dexter cow and her coloring is known as wild red! She is cautious and doesn’t like pets but she loves her home and Flora! Molly is due to have her second calf any day and we can’t wait!

Likes: snacks, grain, treats, lounging, Flora, bossing everyone around, being a jerk, and the occasional run around the pasture.

Dislikes: people, dogs, loud noises, fast movements, anything else trying to eat her food, brownie and noodle…the list could go on and on.

Molly has been a huge learning experience since all our other cows love to be handled and fed but she’s VERY slowly warming up and we can’t wait to see her be a mom!

Brownie

Brownie is a mini jersey/angus heifer (cow who has never had a baby) that is 16 months old and is the absolute sweetest cow to ever live. Brownie is purely a pet and is tiny, walks on a leash when needed, and LOVES attention! She’s always the first to come up for scratches and the last to leave. She will even use you as a scratching post if you aren’t doing a good enough job!

Likes: scratches, food, people, attention, her bestie Noodle, the huge pastures she gets to roam, Aurora (our calf who also loves her), and all of my babies.

Dislikes: no scratches or pets and being ignored…she will moo until you attend to her needs

Brownie is reaching breeding age and I cannot wait to see her become a mommy. She is so good with everything big and small and I adore her. Don’t let the grumpy face fool you, that’s the jersey in her, she is a sweet happy girl living her best life!

Aurora

Aurora is our first baby born on the farm! Her mommy is Rowan, but her coloring is all her dad. Aurora is so much fun. She is goofy, wild, mischevious, and acts like a threenager. She is exploring and testing boundaries and her mama's patience every day.

Likes: her mama, the other cows, Luey, STICKS (especially ones with leaves), trees, big plants, running, jumping, and a little bit of grain.

Dislikes: mineral salts with garlic, people trying to touch her, molly, sheep, and dogs!

We love watching Aurora grow!

Sugar

Sugar is a sibling of our other valais/babydoll sheep but she looks just like their Dad! Sugar is 6 months old, super spunky and loves exploring. Of all the sheep she has the sweetest Baaaa and is always the first to take a treat!

Loves: food, snacks, being out of her pen, her siblings, head butting Ari, jumping around like a crazy sheep, jumping over her siblings, napping under the deck, and leading her siblings on adventures to find the same grass in different places.

Dislikes: being in her pen, when mom doesn’t give her grain because she should be able to forage her own food, being sheared, and having her long tail messed with.

Both of our ewes have long tails because we chose not to have them docked when they were little! They are fluffy, adorable, and wag around just like a dogs!And last exciting fact…last night we found horn buds!!! So excited for her to have horns like her daddy!

S'mores

Smores is lovingly referred to as "the leader of the rebellion" at our house! If there are shenanigans afoot, S'mores is definitely leading the charge. She is curious, sassy, bossy, and hilarious.

Likes: food, snacks, being mischievous, getting everyone else in trouble, sneaking under fences, her siblings, and attention.

Dislikes: no attention, rules, being locked in her pen, and anything she doesn't want to do. 

This girl keeps us laughing and on our toes!

 

Spidey

Spidey is one of our valais/babydoll lambs! He’s the absolute sweetest baby who follows us around wherever we go! He’s 6 months old and very inquisitive! Hes learning to walk on a leash but is not sure about it yet.

LOVES: food, Ari, sticking his head through the fence and getting stuck, napping under the front porch, being naughty, Berger (who hates him), eating all of my blackberry and blueberry bushes, scratches all around his ears, and baa-ING non stop.

DISLIKES: being locked in his pen, hot days, not being with his siblings, and the quad (because it chases him back into his pen).

He loves attention and visitors and he is one of my favorite parts of the farm!

Spin "Spinjamin"

Spin is often referred to as "spinjamin" and he is a very nervous guy! He is one of our babydoll/valais triplets and is terrified of everyone but has the most adorable/hilarious jumps when hes running away! He has a hard head and isn't afraid to use it.

Likes: his siblings, food, treats, being left alone, being free. 

Dislikes: fast movements, people, being trapped in the pen, being touched, and basically anything loud/fast/unexpected.

Spinjamin is getting braver and braver every day, but he's still our sweet, little scardey cat.

Luey

Luey is a 5 year old miniature Jack standing 36 inches tall! He’s the sweetest, most loving donkey in the world and is basically a donkey shaped golden retriever. He is gentle, calm, and walks on a leash for humans of any size! In the winter he’s super fluffy and has a wonderful forehead of fluff and in the summer he is sleek and shiny!

Loves: being brushed (he’ll fall asleep while you do it), attention, Jesse (his girlfriend), grass, treats, kids, the sheep, rolling in the dirt, refusing to walk on a leash for Phillip, being stubborn, and carrots!

Dislikes: being locked in a pen, when a cow gets too close, quads, and being told what to do.

Luey is such a sweet boy and we absolutely love him! we will have a baby donkey next year

Jessie

Jessica “Jessie” is a 6 year old mini donkey that came into our family in June this year! She is gentle, cautious, and protective but is warming up beautifully! She’s defended our calf from a coyote, learned the art of a good dust bath, enjoyed acres and acres of pasture, and has gone on tons of walks by humans big and small! Jessie went from scared to be touched to braying the sweetest sound to get attention and love! She’s an absolute dream and we can’t wait to see what baby Jessie/Luey will be like next year.

Likes: treats, food, running, scratches, grass, Luey, Aurora, little kids, dust baths, and adventures!

Dislikes: all the other cows, loud noises, chasing, her halter, not getting treats, and not being adored.J

essie is the best and has made Luey so happy! They are always together and grooming each other, it’s just the sweetest!
